You are engaged yay!! But now what? Something we hear a lot at Crowcombe Court is we haven’t done this before! We don’t know where to start!! Have no fear we are here to help you start planning.
Step 1: Guests
This might seem a funny place to start but you need to sit down with your partner and come up with a rough guest list. This does not need to be your final number, but it will give you an idea of how many people you’d like to come, meaning you know what you are budgeting towards.
Step 2: Budget
You know how many people you’d like to join you on your special day, now it’s time to set a realistic budget. It’s a good idea to set out what you are hoping to spend on each aspect of your wedding such as venue, flowers, etc. Any spreadsheet savvy people out there might find their excel skills could come in handy here.
Step 3: Date
You don’t have to have a particular date you’d like to get married but it’s a good idea to have a day in the week and time of the year to help you decide on a wedding theme and venue. Remember that if your venue doesn’t have your dream Saturday date lots of people are now having weekday weddings, your loved ones won’t mind taking a day off work to help you celebrate your special day.
Step 4: Venue
You now know how many people your venue needs to hold and your budget so it’s time to start looking for your perfect venue (hopefully we are on your list) A couple of things to consider when looking for your venue is accommodation, if you have friends and family travelling can they stay at the venue? If not are there places nearby? If you are getting married at the venue do they have a place for you to get ready before the ceremony? You’ll have an idea of what you want your wedding to be and when you find your venue you’ll know it’s the right one.
Step 5: Insurance
We are sure your day will go off without a hitch but we do strongly advise getting wedding insurance to make sure if anything were to happen you are covered. This is not just to cover you if something were to happen to the venue but it covers you with all suppliers, so you don’t need to stress.
Step 6: Book the church or registrar
You have the date and the venue, now it’s time to book your registrar if you are getting married at your venue or your church.
Step 7: photographer
You want to make sure you have the most amazing pictures to remind yourself of your special day, take a look at your venue’s social media for ideas or search for photographers in your area. Your venue will also have a suppliers list of people they have worked with before.
Those are the first few steps you need to take when planning a wedding, obviously, you have lots more to do after this but these give you a really good base to work off.
