The South Wing of Crowcombe Court has two beautiful self-contained holiday apartments. After undergoing some renovation last year the demand for these well-appointed holiday bolt holes has been high – the area around Crowcombe Court is a walker’s paradise, and cyclists and horse riders flock to the area to explore the extensive trails and bridleways. The house sits in its own foothill of the Quantocks, making it an ideal location to escape the rat race and enjoy Mother Nature at her finest.
The autumn hues provide a stunning backdrop to explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Standing in the orchard garden, depending on the wind direction, you will hear either the puffs of the West Somerset Steam Railway or the deer rutting on the parkland above the main house. The apartments allow well behaved dogs and children, both of which love nothing more on a crisp autumnal day to run through knee deep leaves at Rock Lane, West Bagborough. Literary enthusiasts can combine a visit to Coleridge’s cottage in Nether Stowey with following in the footprints of Coleridge & Wordsworth in Holford. There you can follow the stream through woodland, climb up over the moorland and finally drop back down into the village of Crowcombe.
There is nothing more rewarding than picking your own blackberries, mushrooms and more, and then returning to the South Wing apartments to enjoy a supper including finds you have foraged. For those wishing to escape from cooking there are ample decent eateries locally!
